REGIONAL FUTURES PROJECT
EASTERN RIVERINA ARTS REPRESENTATIVE
2022
Regional Futures is a state-wide program of creative development and conversations that places artists at the centre of a dialogue exploring a future vision for the place where they live and create.
Project artists have been commissioned to create work that responds to the prompt ‘What does the future look like for your region?’.
“My body of work for Regional Futures is inspired by the belief that you can’t look towards the future without looking back at the past. Standing at the Heart of Seven Generations will explore my longstanding love for rocks, formations and texture.”
“Juanita approaches expansive subject matter with works that are tactile and visually beguiling, yet imbued with gentleness and subtlety. Her response to a question about the future of our region - a prompt steeped in Western linear thinking - is to create an archaeology of the recursive nature of generations, the echoes that lives have and are. It's a work of inclusion and humanity and I'm delighted that Juanita developed it for the Regional Futures project.” - Eastern Riverina Arts Director, Tim Kurylowicz.
